Det gode liv som katolikk

Nylig kom jeg ganske tilfeldig over nettstedet St. Peter's List. Det karakteriserer seg selv på denne måten:

Guds gjøgler (?)

Pater Miquel Pro S.J.


DENNE humoristiske katolske amerikanske bloggen, The Curt Jester, ble jeg nylig oppmerksom på. Som skytshelgen har bloggeren valgt en jesuittpater ved navn Miquel Pro: «Known as "God's Jester" - a martyr for the faith and a man of wisdom, fun, tricks, poetry, song, and dance. Thus seemed an appropriate Patron Saint of this blog.» Wikipedia-artikkelen (HER) sier ingenting om at Pro var en gjøgler, men når den nevner hans «ability to talk about spiritual subjects without being boring», kan jo det være et understatement. Derimot ga Wikipedia-artikkelen meg en «litterær» åpenbaring: Pro var nemlig ingen ringere enn modellen til hovedpersonen i Graham Greenes Makten og æren! Pro var riktignok ingen «whiskyprest» som Greenes hovedperson, men som denne ble Pro henrettet under den nådeløse forfølgelsen av de kristne i 1920-årenes Mexico, og saligkåret av Johannes Paul II i 1988.

Den som måtte interessere seg for det, kan finne en del omtale av Graham Greene på den litterære bloggen min, Aroundbooks. Som leser har jeg nemlig hatt et Graham Greene-år i år.
